The Farnham Community Farm Board

Chairwoman: Alison Wood

Alison joined FCF (Farnham Local Food as it was known back then) in 2014. Alison was drawn to FCF as she was interested in volunteering, and wanted to source 'home grown' veg that was more exciting than the varieties in the supermarket. She has been a dedicated volunteer in the field, regularly leading harvests and veg collection back when the weekly veg cropping was carried out by volunteers. She is also a great baker and cook!

Alison is a director and sits on the boards of four UK engineering and technology companies, and so is able to provide FCF with advice on a range of business and commercial issues we have to navigate.

Alison became Chair at the end of 2017 and steered the farm through a particularly challenging time when our future was uncertain. Her unfaltering belief in the vision and potential of FCF has seen us go from strength to strength, and become more resilient as a not-for-profit organisation.

Alison's favourite FCF crop is kalettes/flower sprouts in winter, and blackcurrants in the summer (a volunteer treat!)

treasurer: sarah king

Sarah has been with our organisation almost from the very beginning, she joined a year in from it's creation in 2009, when she wanted to learn to grow her own veg. Working as a regular volunteer, it was the community aspect that hooked her to FCF; she enjoyed sharing how incredibly empowering and uniting the growing of food together can be.

In 2017 Sarah took on the role of Farm Treasurer, where she creates the yearly budget with Farm Coordinator Katie, makes and reconciles payments in and out of the account, keeps the books balanced and also deals with payroll. Thanks to Sarah we have a really clear view of the farm finances. Sarah's day job as Chief Financial Officer and co-owner of a locally based business keep her in practice for these tasks.

Every year Sarah runs the Sewing Souk at the Sustainability Festival, with her lovely hand-powered vintage sewing machines and gorgeous retro camper van in tow. She is a self-confessed bunting addict!
